Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • I have Challenger Model P1552T on one side of my garage door that is not lit. Is this normal, or must I replace it ? The one on the opposite does light when they face each other.

Both sensors should light when properly aligned, and functional. To test the sensors, point the sensors at each other - If the LED’s DO NOT turn on, replace the sensors.

The safety reversing sensors must be connected and aligned correctly before the garage door opener will move in the down direction. Typically issues with the safety sensor wiring occur because of a poor connection, incorrectly connected wires, or a short in the wire from a staple.

You should also check the wiring.

    Inspect the wiring:
    1. Check for incorrect wiring between the sensors and the garage door opener.
    2. Verify the wire connections are correct on the garage door opener.

  • I have a Wayne-Dalton, Banko Challenger 9300. I believe the photo sensor(s) are bad because the light in the sensor does not light up [no light in the other sensor] and the door will work to go up, but not down unless I hold the wall mounted button down continuously until the door is all the way down and closed. Sure hope you can help me. I believe it was installed in \'94 when my house was build. Will your new sensors solve my problem?

If the lights are no longer coming on and your door will not operate correctly, it is time to replace your sensors. The AL-9000 is the correct replacement for your challenger 9300 unit.

  • can I purchase sensors only? I don\'t need hardware.

The sensors are only sold in the set with hardware included.

  • I bought a house with a Challenger CH-1000 opener installed. It does -not- have a beam sensor already installed. Is there a way to retrofit with these?

If the unit doesn't have sensors, then it is too old to add them.

  • Is this part the same as Magic Lamp P1552-R?

It is the replacement for that part.

  • I have a Door Masterch1000 garage door opener. Works great. Selling house and inspector wants safety sensors installed. Is this the right one?

I can't confirm that since I don't find any link between a doormaster and CH1000 model. This is compatible with Allstar/Challenger CH1000 models. I have no idea about a doormaster CH1000.

  • Which terminals on the opener do the sensors hook to on model CH-1000? there are 3 terminals on the unit Com, PB and another one.

For Challenger/Wizard models, follow the Quantum Classic Drive instruction set - https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1499/9402/files/WD-260597-260600.pdf
Use OBS and COM terminals to wire the sensors.

  • I need a replacement for my old Challenger Photo-Sense Model #1552T which has two wires and the my 1552R which has four wires connected to it? Does the AL-9000 receiver has the four wires also? If not what Model do I need?

All of the replacements available will be pairing down to two wires. They don't make a four wired version anymore. The AL-9000 is the correct replacement. You will have to rewire or double splice the wires in to the new.

  • what is a replacement part for Challenger Photo-Sense Model# P1552-R?

The AL-9000 is the correct replacement sensor set for your model.

  • I have two Challenger door openers, model #CH-1000, that do not have safety beam sensors currently. Can I add this kit to use as sensors for the doors? there are three low voltage electrical connections on the back of the unit, no serial number.

Unfortunately if your unit does not already have sensors, you will not be able to add them. Some early models were not made with sensor capabilities. You may have to upgrade to a newer opener if this is a feature you need.

  • I have and old WD Quantum #3212 opener with a 4 wire P1552R sensor and a 2 wire on the other side. This one and the WD #252118 appear to be only 2 wire. Will either of these replacements for the setup that I have ?

This is the correct sensor set for your unit.
Visit this page to see the installation instructions for your unit - https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1499/9402/files/WD-260597-260600.pdfThere are still four wires, so it shouldn't be much different from your old ones.

  • Your compatibility list includes Challenger model CH-1000 (if it already has sensors). Mine doesn\'t have sensors installed. Will this part work? If not, what is recommendation for a different part?

If your unit doesn't have sensors, then it is not setup to work with them. We don't have any options that will work with your unit. We recommend replacing the whole thing.
