7 Quick Tips for Buying Garage Door Opener Parts

  1. You will need to know several details about your garage door opener to select the correct parts for it. Manufacturer name and model number are usually necessary.
  2. To find detailed infomation about your garage door opener, look on the garage door opener power head located on the ceiling of your garage. Usually stickers and identifying information are found on the back or sides of the machine.
  3. Garage door opener manufacturers change the frequency at which remote controls and keypads function periodically, so you will generally need to know the model number of your garage door opener.
  4. Some models of garage door operators use radio gear (remote controls, keypads) from another manufacturer. In this case, you will need to know additional details found on a currently working remote control.
  5. Use our Garage Door Opener Selection Guide for details specific to your brand of garage door opener.
  6. On each product page there is a section called "Compatible with". This section gives details on manufacturers and models numbers that use the particular garage door opener part, remote control, keypad, gear, or other part.
  7. If you are still not sure which part will work with your garage door opener, Contact Us using the web form on the contact us page. Please include details about your garage door opener manufacturer and model number in your question.

It fixed the problem....
A company wanted to replace entire garage door opener, but a friend said he would replace sensor for us. I thought it was the problem as the system made a clicking noise when I pushed the bottom, the same noise the system makes when something is in front of the sensor. The door company informed me they did not try to fix problems like that and it was just easier to replace the entire system. So I am happy that a $60 part was all it took instead of $300 to replace everything.

This was packaged very well and arrived pretty quickly. I didn't need the brackets and wire that came along with the sensors, but it was good to know they were included if needed. I simply cut the wire they came with and spliced them in with wire nuts and was good to go in about 15 minutes. Great product; no problems!!

Replaced Wireless With Wired
Battery operated wireless sensors had failed because battery acid leaked from batteries and corroded the terminals. Sensors were purchased and replaced in accordance with packaging instructions. Took about 1-1/2 hours to replace. Product was as described and worked well after installation. Not 5 stars because thought the mounting "L" brackets could be a bit stronger. Also, use caution with a staple gun. I stapled wires to the garage wall and a staple shorted across the wires because its insulated coating is not that thick. Lastly, the "U" bracket to the "L" bracket carriage bolt nut required a lot of torque (more than what I was used to for this small nut) in order to tighten properly, but it did tighten OK. All in all a good product and I would recommend it to others.

Easy Installation
I had no idea why suddenly my garage door would go up but not go down. I googled it and figured out I needed new sensors. I found this website and ordered them. I didn't have time to do the installation right away and I put them aside until I got tired of opening the garage door, pulling the car out, then going back into the garage and pushing the wall button until it closed completely. I thought it would be an easy, quick project... Well I discovered that even though the parts were correct for the opener, the old brackets and sensors were different than the new ones, it's an older opener. Installing the new brackets took a while. Then I recruited my 21 yr old son to route and attach the wires and I did the connections to the opener. We didn't have any problem with the sensor alignment. When I plugged in the opener, the light lit up immediately and with testing performed correctly. I am very happy that my opener is working again! The not so fun part was taking all the old wiring off, ugh those rusty staples all over the garage floor.

Problem Solved!
During the day only the garage door would start down and then go back up. I called a local technician and he said I needed a new opener. After researching the problem of sunlight issues I decided to try the new sensors. They were easy to install and solved my problem. The old sensors had just become too weak in the sunlight. The door and opener work perfectly now and I saved the cost of a new opener. The purchase process was easy and shipping was timely.

It did the trick
I had the issue with the door going down about 1 foot then returning to the fully open position with the power head light flashing.. I had the old battery operated electronic eye sensors and they just stopped working. I did all types of trouble shooting to try to figure out what the problem was. I decided that it had to be the sensors because when I put them in align mode and re-aligned them the green light would flash on one unit and the power head light would flash as well.... Not only that, if I closed the door that leads from my house to the garage, the power head light would flash... Weird. I ordered these sensors and got them within 4 days from the day I ordered them. The two sensors came with simple Instructions and everything I needed to hook them up. I tested them before I actually installed by temporarily hooking them up to the power head. They worked flawlessly.

I was told by the repairman that my Quantum garage door was no longer produced, that they could not do anything to fix it, but he was pretty sure I was correct, and the sensors were bad. At least he referred me to this site. Once ordered, these sensors arrived extremely fast, and they were so easy to install. The hardest part was stapling the wire to the wall, since I didn't want to try to thread it through the drywall. The LED indicator is very helpful in lining up the sensors. Great product.

Sensors were received as described and did correct the issue of my garage door suddenly reversing when trying to close. What I suspect was that the splice in the original wiring started to fail. One set of wires from the emitter, one set of wires from the receiver; the two were spliced together behind the sheetrock, with one set of wires then going to the opener. I had a very difficult time in aligning the original emitter/sensor pair, but was a cake walk to align the new emitter/sensor pair.
