Unable to get the lower retaining pins out, so I removed the chain and pulled out the top drive unit and placed it into my large vise. After chipping away part of the old plastic gear, the pins released.
With the upright unit out it was easy to insert new drive gear and pins. Reinserted unit onto worm drive and reconnected the drive chain. Lubed in place and reconnected the worm stop system..minor adjustments to up & down. Works like a charm...quite a saving for a retired guy! |

I installed 3 in the last month and they all fit perfectly. One was in my house I am getting ready to sell and two in another house we just bought. By the third time,I learned the shortcuts and it was an easy install. I suspect most people would have bought a whole new garage door opener, but this worked perfect. |

Don't hesitate, just do this...much cheaper (and far easier) than replacing the whole opener. Fast shipping, and great "shortcut" instructions that make installing this real easy. One note: put a rag behind the pin when driving it out, it will fly out of there and across the garage and you'll be off to the store for a new one if you can't find it. Thanks!! |

This gear performed as advertised and was easy to replace the failed gear.
The delivery was way better than promised.
WD was the only source for the single gear. Others wanted to sell a total assembly that was not needed. |

Good product. I ordered the plastic large gear and it came as ordered (new with lubricant. I was hoping to get more lube, but no worries, you have to be careful to squeeze every drop out of it.
Anyways the part was installed and the garage door started working again. |

Gear was delivered quickly. Did not realize that there would be so many parts to remove in order to replace the large gear. Could have replaced all the gears, but they were still good. Looked up a you tube video on how to replace the gear. Put my lap top on a shelf near the opener and followed the video, step by step. A potentially difficult job for a first timer made easy. Garage door opens and closes perfectly. |

I was able to fix my garage door opener by myself, thanks so much to YOUTUBE and WayneDaltonParts. I already returned the new garage door opener I purchased which I thought was the only solution. This plastic gear worked like a champ so I bought a couple extras for my other garage door openers just in case. BE SAFE! |

This little plastic magic gear got the garage door opener working in no time. Easy to follow instructions.
They should have mentioned it was easier to move the gear in position by turning the motor shaft out of the back of the motor.
All in all a great easy repair. |
