I've programmed my Wireless Photoelectric Sensors. The Trolley travels a short distance from the Open position and reverses. 4/8/2011
Question:
I've programmed my Wireless Photoelectric Sensors. The Trolley travels a short distance from the Open position and reverses.

Answer:
You must attach your garage door in order for the Wireless Sensors to function properly. These sensors are activated by door vibration. This helps conserve battery life because the sensors only turn on when the door is activated and moving.

My garage door opener will work using the button on the wall in the garage, but the remote for the car will not work. 1/21/2011
Question:
My garage door opener will work using the button on the wall in the garage, but the remote for the car will not work. I have changed the battery and still does not work. How do I determine if my problem is in the remote or the operator? Classic Drive Model 3012.

Answer:
First try resetting your opener by unplugging the opener power head from the wall outlet. Wait 2 minutes and plug back in. Try your remote controls.
If that doesn't work try to reprogram your remote control to the power head using the steps below:

Programming Transmitter to Power Head Unit
Press the PROGRAM button located on the garage door motor head unit once. The PROGRAM STATUS light on the motor head unit will turn on and remain lit for one minute, indicating that it is ready to learn the Transmitter code.
Press the button on transmitter. The PROGRAM STATUS light will turn off indicating a successful learn.
Press the same button on the Transmitter once more to operate the door.
If you are unsuccessful in programing the transmitter to the motor head unit or if the button does not operate the door you probably have a faulty motor control board. A replacement board is found on this webpage: Wayne Dalton Classic Drive Control Board

What remotes are compatible with the Classic Drive 3012? 1/21/2011
Question:
I have purchased a home where the previous owner did not leave the garage door opener remotes.  It is a Classic Drive 3012.  I saw remotes on your website and would like to purchase them, but would like more info about making sure the previous remotes will not be able to be used.  Will the new remotes come with instructions on how to make any other remotes not usable for safety purposes?

Answer:
There is only one available remote control for the 3012 Classic Drive: Wayne Dalton 3-Button Full Size Remote Control.

The Wayne Dalton remote controls come with instructions for programming the remote control to your garage door opener.  You have to program in the remotes you buy until 8 positions have been used before you will bump off all previous remote controls programmed to the opener.  In other words, the garage door opener holds in memory 8 different devices (remote controls, keypad, wall station) and until you use all those positions with your new remote controls, any others programmed to it may still work.  There is no way to clear the memory....so just program it in, and start over and do it again.  The instructions that come with the remote control should make it clear to you.
